in Shree Giridhar Dham Ashram
During this autumn festival, we invite Maha Lakshmi to come into our hearts and homes. We pray to Her to help cleanse our minds of judgement and to show us the way to surrender to the Feet of the Master. With Her blessings, the light of Love in our hearts can be awakened so that it shines brighter in the world.
Diwali is called the Festival of Lights and is the time we celebrate the return of Rama, Sita and Lakshmana after their 14-year exile. The heroes returned after they fought many demons, including the infamous demon king, Ravana. The citizens of Ayodhya lit candles and oil lamps to welcome their return. Diwali symbolises the spiritual victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance.
We will celebrate Diwali by decorating our main deities as Sita & Rama, performing special puja, welcoming Devi by her footprints into the temple and lots of lights. We will sing kirtan into the night and listen to insightful satsangs.
